ASC is great for the non-tech-savvy because you don’t even have to view the results to repair them. I have found the registry scan to be very quick, regardless of the number of errors the program found. There are checkboxes you can enable to do all sorts of stuff in addition to clean the registry, like defrag the registry, run a privacy sweep, and delete junk files.

Right off the bat, you'll notice, like I did, how much you can do in this program. Registry Clean is the utility within it that does the registry cleaning. Must uncheck all other options before scanning the registry.Īdvanced SystemCare Free is one of IObit’s many freeware programs. This is probably its final version it hasn't been updated in ages. I tested v1.5.0 in Windows 10 and Windows 7. The JetClean registry cleaner supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000. Yes, one exists, but you have to "generate" one from within the installed version on your computer. I also don't like that there's not an easily available portable version of the program. Two: It tries to install a toolbar, but you can decline it during installation. One: The number of cookies that it considers keepable, by default, is a bit excessive. There are two major things I don't like about JetClean. It scanned the entire registry in just a few seconds and has a well-designed interface. JetClean, a free registry cleaner by BlueSprig, isn't one I see mentioned a lot, but I found it to be very well done. Portable version generated within installed version. Registry Reviver uses the most advanced technologies available to analyze errors in your registry and, more importantly repair them, to restore optimum performance to your PC.Tries to install toolbar during installation. With so many additions, deletions and other modifications, your Windows registry can become filled with errors, empty destinations and orphaned references, or even corrupted. This is especially true as software, drivers, and hardware components are added and removed from your computer. Over time, and with normal use, your computer's registry will become bloated and filled with errors.

As you can see the registry contains information that is not only vital to the use of the operating system, but also essential in allowing you to customize Windows to your particular tastes. Application settings such as what directory you would like to download files to or what your default font is in a word processor are stored here as well. When you shut down Windows and start it up again at a later date, your preferences are available and loaded automatically. When you change your desktop background or screen saver, these details are stored in the registry. User preferences and application settings are stored in the registry as well. The registry, though, is not only for operating system settings. Because this information is stored in the registry on your hard drive, Windows has this information available each time it boots up. As Windows starts it will read the configuration in the registry and know what drivers need to be loaded, what settings to be applied, and what resources need to be allocated in order for this equipment to work. This allows Windows to retrieve that information at later dates such as when it is starting up. When a new piece of hardware or software is installed in Windows, it stores its configuration into the registry. The registry is a key component of the Windows operating system, so much so that without it, Windows would not even run.
